The following morning was the start of a travel day, as we would be moving on to Florence from Venice.  But we weren’t quite done with Venice yet.  We began the day with checking out of hotels and dragging luggage around, eventually loading the luggage (and ourselves) onto a vaporetto at the Rialto Bridge stop on the Grand Canal.  Every visitor to Venice should experience a boat ride on the Grand Canal, and a vaporetto is the most economical way of doing this.  Our ride wasn’t as relaxed as it might have been, as we had luggage to worry about, and since the Rialto Bridge is in the middle of the island, we only cruised half of the canal, but even so, we enjoyed the ride very much.

The vaporetto dropped us off at the Ferrovia (or train station) stop in plenty of time to catch our train.  More time than expected in fact, as our train was delayed for more than an hour (apparently it was a new train, and there were some bugs to be worked out).  This gave us some time to purchase some sandwiches for the train ride and to wander around the station area a little and make some final observations of the Grand Canal.
